Joining a club is one of the best ways to connect with your peers, explore shared interests, and contribute to the vibrant graduate community at McMaster University. The Graduate Students Association (GSA) proudly supports a variety of student-led clubs that cater to academic, cultural, recreational, and social interests.

Start a New Club

Have an idea for a new graduate student club? The GSA encourages students to form new clubs to meet unique needs and interests. Follow these steps to get started:


  1. Prepare Your Documents:

    • Registration Form: Include the club’s name, category, and contact details. List at least 4 executives and 10 members.

    • Cover Letter: Explain your club's goals, uniqueness, and contributions to the graduate student community.

    • Budget Plan: Outline the events and programming your club intends to organize.

    • Club Constitution: Use the provided template to define your club’s governance and operational rules.

  2. Submit Your Application:
    Email all completed documents to the GSA VP Services at gsavpserv@mcmaster.ca.


  3. Interview:
    You may be invited to an interview to discuss and clarify your application.


  4. Ratification:
    Once approved, your club will be ratified by the GSA Clubs Committee.
